Re-assessment
POSTED AT 09:23 PM

I was having dinner with a friend awhile ago and sad Christmas songs were being played.

I think it was the Christmas songs. Suddenly, I felt sad. Christmas is coming soon and so is the new year.

I guess, I started to re-think things and I suddenly realized I missed out on a lot of things. I guess, I need to re-assess my priorities and work schedule. No more bringing home of work at night. I need to put in my schedule "fun" and art. I have to make my life more meaningful and filled. Life is short.

Firsts
POSTED AT 10:57 PM

This semester has got to be the most challenging semester for me and YET, it is the semester where I had the most fun.

I definitely could say that I now understand why teaching is the noblest job.

It is also the most UN-boring job since you get updated with new stuff almost everyday, you get to meet many types of people and each day is unique.

I've been teaching for more than 5 years already but this semester is a first of firsts.

In this particular semester, I experienced for the first time:

  • seeing red and throwing IMPULSIVELY the thing I was holding on my hand (good thing, it was a piece of chalk) because of anger and disappointment.
  • having to bring home papers to check every weekend because of the basic computer programming subject that I am handling
  • having a student fainting in my class
  • having paranoid students anticipating the earthquake to strike during our lecture last July 18
  • my class being disrupted because of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson shooting in school premises.

For the good stuff, I also experienced:

  • participating in the Faculty frolics. We danced the 90's genre
  • winning in the raffle draw of our school's foundation anniversary. My first time ever to win in a raffle draw in my entire life. I won a DVD player
  • becoming closer with co-workers
  • having good and open relationship with my students. I am constantly amused with their antics and their personalities despite some unlovable characters in some classes.

Here's looking forward to what else can happen this semester

one of the best...
POSTED AT 09:01 PM

Wow, the tabulas  editor looks different! Kinda nice actually!

Anyway,

Yesterday was my birthday and a few good surprises kept on coming. It was one of the best birthdays I had despite of the cold and rainy weather.

Basically, I got great greetings from friends...and stuff, as well ...but just the texts, made my day already.. thank you!

I am happy with the way things have turned out after all the sacrifices. I finally got my my grade yesterday. I can finally apply for my transcript

I was given something I wanted to buy for a long time already. Quite a nice surprise actually.

I got my braces taken off awhile ago--finally, i can feel my teeth

And I get Php 3, 200 refund! Something to use to pay for a swipe

Hmm, but if it is not much ... I wish that I get included in a list for August 8. I really need that.

I am blessed.

I'm a bit beat but I am enjoying my new job and the new subjects I am handling! Yet, I don't think I even have time to kiss or even just pay attention to frogs. or even this blog...

Time is ticking... I hope I do not lose my focus also on what I plan to accomplish this year for my career and future.
